Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest provides over 14,000 images and documentation about the architectural heritage of the Pacific Northwest, with special emphasis on Oregon’s built environment. In collaboration with the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, many images in the collection represent works listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A significant number of images come from collections donated to the University of Oregon Libraries over the years, including the collection of architectural historian Marion Dean Ross. 2. Historical Photograph Collection Historical Photograph Collection This collection forms part of the Pendleton Group, a series of photograph collections from the Pendleton area, 1880s-1940s. Images from certain photographers, such as Bowman, may be found in many of these collections. The Pendleton Group includes the Lee Drake photographs (PH 021), the Lee Moorhouse photographs (PH 036), the Charles W. Furlong photographs (PH 244), the Walter S. Bowman photographs (PH 004), and the Electric Studio/O.G. Allen photographs (PH 033). Related images are also held in the Print Collection (PH 035) and the Park Weed Willis photographs (PH 288). 3. Percent for Art Percent for Art The Percent for Art Statewide Digital Collection and Database is a grant-funded project in collaboration with the Oregon Arts Commission. Currently, the database offers access to over 3900 items, encompassing a 30-year period, and reflecting artworks in 105 state projects around Oregon. 4. Picturing the Cayuse, Walla Walla, and Umatilla Tribes Picturing the Cayuse, Walla Walla, and Umatilla Tribes This collection contains over 300 images of native peoples taken by Major Lee Moorhouse between the years of 1888 to 1916. This collection is a collaborative project among the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute (TCI) of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the University of Oregon (UO) Libraries, and Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). The project’s intent is twofold: first, to make the Major Lee Moorhouse photographs of native peoples available to a wide audience; and second, to provide a site for historical descriptions of these images as well as descriptions created by native peoples. 5. Doris Ulmann Photograph Collection Doris Ulmann Photograph Collection The Doris Ulmann Collection includes some 6,000 glass plate negatives, 8,000 proof prints in albums, and 300 vintage prints. Doris Ulmann, (1882-1934), was a photographer in the Pictorialist movement who documented rural life in Appalachia as well as the intelligentsia of New York City during the 1920's and 1930's.
