USD Photograph Collection
The USD Photograph Collection represents the visual history of The University of South Dakota from the 1880s to the present and comprises the most comprehensive surviving photographic history of the University. Major subjects include: academics, alumni, athletics, buildings, alumni collections, events, offices, organizations, presidents, South Dakota, students, and Vermillion. The collection contains negatives, prints, postcards, slides, and digitally born images. Though most of the photographers are not identified, the collection includes work by: student photographers, Coyote Yearbook photographers, Volante photographers, News Bureau photographers, official campus photographers, as well as professional photographers hired on a special project or temporary basis. Alumni and others have also donated photographs to the collection.

Child of the Sun: Florida Southern College Digital Photograph Collection
This collection was created from a selection of black-and-white and color photographs, negatives, and slides that were pulled from various Florida Southern College archival collections. The first selections were made in 2006 and are ongoing. The image selection criteria is any images that may give insight to the creation, form and history of the Child of the Sun structures which were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright including images of the buildings, blueprints, and people associated with the buildings deemed important enough for digitization and online viewing. King County Snapshots presents King County, Washington, through 12,000 historical images carefully chosen from twelve organizations' collections. These cataloged 19th and 20th century images portray people, places, and events in the county's urban, suburban, and rural communities.

Mount St. Helens Succession Collection
The Mount St. Helens Succession Collection consists of 235 photographs taken by Dr. Roger del Moral since 1980. These consist of a series of "permanent plot views", photos taken of the same site over a period of years, general aspects of impacted habitats, and photos of some of the more common species of plants. The impacts of the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens varied from very minor deposits of ash to total destruction. These photos capture some of the changes that have occurred during the last 20 years.

Cities and Buildings Database
The Cities and Buildings Database is a collection of digitized images of buildings and cities drawn from across time and throughout the world, available to students, researchers and educators on the web. Begun in 1995, the collection was conceived as a multi-disciplinary resource for students, faculty, and others in the academic community. It has grown steadily since then, with contributions from a wide range of scholars, and now contains nearly 10,000 images ranging from New York to Central Asia, from African villages, to the Parc de la Villette, and conceptual sketches and models of Frank Gehry's Experience Music Project. These have all been scanned from original slides or drawn from documents in the public domain.

The William F. Hoyt collection contains 855 slides selected by Dr. Willam Hoyt. The collection focuses on the optic disc and has been peer reviewed by members of the NANOS Web Education Committee. This collection is part of The Neuro-Ophthalmology Virtual Education Library (NOVEL). The NOVEL project brings together images, videos, lectures, and other digital media for use by neuro-ophthalmology professionals, educators, students and patients and aims to assist in the education about neuro-ophthalmologic topics.

Picturing the Cayuse, Walla Walla, and Umatilla Tribes
This collection contains over 300 images of native peoples taken by Major Lee Moorhouse between the years of 1888 to 1916. This collection is a collaborative project among the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute (TCI) of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the University of Oregon (UO) Libraries, and Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE). The project’s intent is twofold: first, to make the Major Lee Moorhouse photographs of native peoples available to a wide audience; and second, to provide a site for historical descriptions of these images as well as descriptions created by native peoples.

This collection forms part of the Pendleton Group, a series of photograph collections from the Pendleton area, 1880s-1940s. Images from certain photographers, such as Bowman, may be found in many of these collections. The Pendleton Group includes the Lee Drake photographs (PH 021), the Lee Moorhouse photographs (PH 036), the Charles W. Furlong photographs (PH 244), the Walter S. Bowman photographs (PH 004), and the Electric Studio/O.G. Allen photographs (PH 033). Related images are also held in the Print Collection (PH 035) and the Park Weed Willis photographs (PH 288).

H. L. Bolley Photograph Collection
The H. L. Bolley Photograph Collection consists of lantern slides taken by Professor Henry Luke Bolley, Dean of Biology and Professor of Botany and Plant Pathology at North Dakota Agricultural College. Most of these images were taken in 1903, when the College and the United States Department of Agriculture funded a trip to allow Bolley to study the chief flax growing areas in Holland, Belgium, Northern Germany, and Russia.

NDSU Captured on Glass
The NDSU University Archives presents views of campus life at the North Dakota Agricultural College dating from the 1890s into the early 1930s as captured on glass negatives. This sampling of images presents men’s and women’s sports: baseball, basketball, boxing, field hockey, football, gymnastics, soccer and track and field; campus events such as homecoming parades and floats, dances and commencement; campus buildings, classroom and laboratories; as well as views of student life, the Cadet Corp, and aerials. The entire glass negative collection consist of approximately 25,000 images with the major focus being activities of the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station from the early 1920s through the 1930s.

Edward H. Peeples Prince Edward County (Va.) Public Schools Collection
From 1959 to 1964, Prince Edward County, Virginia, chose to close its public schools rather than integrate them. Through photographs, documents, and maps, this collection explores the history of Prince Edward County segregation in the 1950s and 1960s. Dr. Edward H. Peeples, Emeritus professor at VCU, photographed over 100 images of schools in the county and environs in 1962 and 1963, documenting the disparity between African American and white facilities. Also included are contemporary images of the schools and events surrounding the anniversary of the 1951 student strike and other occasions, as well as additional published and unpublished materials on the topic.

Railroads in the Midwest: Early Documents and Images
This collection containing photographs, documents, texts and ephemera--annual reports, published books, stock certificates, and more--covers the early history of railroads in the Midwest, and in Illinois in particular, documents the role that railroads played in westward expansion. Many of the photographs of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy trains were taken by Allen A. Green, Knox College class of 1903. Green photographed work trains, travelers and crews aboard passenger trains, and the engines, cars and interiors of the fast mail trains, and he pioneered the photography of trains in motion by developing a trigger device that allowed a train to take its own picture. This digital collection of images and documents celebrates railroad history up to the introduction of the Pioneer Zephyr of the Burlington Route in 1933.

Jan Williams Photos of Morton Feldman, 1974-1979
The collection of Jan Williams Photos of Morton Feldman contains 56 slides taken during concert tours made by Feldman and Williams in 1974, 1977, and 1979. These slides were used to create color prints, which were in turn used to create digital images. The tours were part of the activities of the Creative Associates and the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York. Locations of the images include Paris, London, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Barcelona, Perugia, Karlsrühe, Dartington and Harrogate, England, Hilversum, Shiraz, Iran, Padua, and Venice. Other musicians in the images include Lejaren Hiller, Eberhard Blum, Martha Herr Hanneman, Nils Vigeland, Dennis Kahle, David Gibson, Julius Eastman, Ralph Jones, Peter Gena, Jan Williams, Benjamin Hudson, Bunita Marcus, and Renée Levine, director of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts. Jan Williams was born in Utica, New York, in 1939. He earned his B.M. and M.M. degrees as a percussionist at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Paul Price. Williams came to Buffalo as a Creative Associate at the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts in 1964. He became a member of the University at Buffalo Music Faculty in 1967 and Co-Director of the Center in 1974. Williams has been a mainstay of the international contemporary music scene, as percussionist, conductor, administrator, and educator. Composer Morton Feldman (1926-1987) joined the University at Buffalo Music Faculty in 1972. He was Slee Professor, 1972-1973, Edgar Varèse Professor, 1975-1987, and the Director of the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts, 1976-1980. Feldman also established the June in Buffalo festival in 1975 at the University. Under his leadership the festival was presented 1975-1978, and 1980.

Larry Oglesby Collection
The Larry Oglesby Collection consists of 35 mm color slides of flora and fauna taken by Professor Larry Oglesby, Professor Emeritus of Biology at Pomona College. Oglesby graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Botany and a fascination with the natural world. He also earned a Master's Degree in Zoology from Florida State University and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He taught Biology at Pomona College beginning in 1968. Taken in the field, the slides depict plants such as Sky Lupine or Field Mustard and animals such as the Pacific Pond Turtle and Killdeer. The photographs were taken primarily in California and Oregon but photographs of the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and other locations may also be found. The most frequent subject of Oglesby's slides is the Bernard Field Station located in Claremont, California. The Field Station consists of 86 acres of primarily coastal sage scrub, Riversidian alluvial fan scrub, live oak forest, and grassland. In addition, an artificial lake with surrounding riparian woodland and several created vernal pools add to habitat diversity. Oglesby was an active supporter of the Field Station and used the resources at the site to enrich his classroom teaching and research. The Collection is housed in The Libraries' special collections in Honnold/Mudd Library at the Claremont University Consortium in Claremont, California.
